Florida building permit fees are typically calculated based on the construction value of the project (a percentage of the total construction cost) or a flat fee per square foot. Some jurisdictions use a combination of both methods. Typical Florida residential permit fees range from 0.5% to 2% of the construction value. For a $300,000 home, the permit fee would be approximately $1,500–$6,000. Commercial permit fees are typically higher.
